# The Lunch Atlas

An independent map of restaurants featured in a private archive of Lunch with the FT. Explore guests, their orders, reported bills and the original Financial Times articles.

## Reading the map

Dates are article publication dates. Restaurant names and pins refer to the venue at the time of the lunch; they do not establish that it is still open. Pins represent venue or building locations, not surveyed entrances. Unresolved locations remain unpinned. Private homes are unpinned.

“What the guest ordered” reflects attribution in the article narrative. “At the table” contains shared dishes, other diners' dishes or items whose diner is not established. A bill alone does not establish who ordered or paid for an item.

Prices retain their original currencies and quantities. Set menus and shared charges stay bundled. Printed totals can include taxes, tips or other unitemised charges; a total is not an inferred personal subtotal. Partial bills, estimates, hospitality and source discrepancies are labelled. Missing prices are not zero and do not prove a price is unavailable elsewhere.

The About panel shows archive coverage and offers downloads of venue GeoJSON, lunch records and item prices. Each restaurant links to its source article and recorded location evidence. Full articles and PDFs are not included.

Country outlines, fonts and map software are bundled with the site. Street maps at closer zoom levels load from OpenStreetMap. The searchable restaurant index remains usable if street tiles fail to load. External source articles and location links require a network connection.
